Early Life and Education


Born on May 15, 1931, in Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam had a humble beginning. He pursued his studies in physics and aeronautical engineering, harboring a dream of becoming a pilot. However, fate had a different plan, and he narrowly missed the opportunity to fulfill his aviation aspirations. Undeterred, he embarked on a career as a scientist, working in defense and space research organizations.

Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam commenced his professional journey at the Defense Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). In 1969, he transitioned to the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), where he played a pivotal role in the successful launch of India's first satellite. Although he was invited to witness India's first nuclear test, he did not contribute to its development.

Presidency


In 2002, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam assumed the esteemed position of the 11th President of India. Throughout his presidency, he earned the moniker of the "people's President" due to his unwavering dedication to the welfare of the citizens. Despite facing challenges, such as signing contentious bills like the "office of profit," he remained committed to serving the nation. His presidency concluded in 2007.

Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam received numerous accolades throughout his illustrious career. Notably, he was bestowed with the Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian honor, in recognition of his exceptional contributions. Additionally, he authored several books that served as a source of inspiration for the youth, while also envisioning a prosperous future for India. Death


Tragically, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam passed away on July 27, 2015, in Shillong, Meghalaya, following a cardiac arrest. His demise left a void in the hearts of many, but his legacy of kindness, dedication, and humor continues to inspire generations.
